Built to be easy on your own

Non-binding latches

The latches self-release under tension, so you don't need to perfectly square up before disconnecting, even on uneven ground.

Self-aligning arms

Drive forward, the arms pull into position. No second person guiding you in.

One-person connect

Connect the tow bar, the safety cables, and the lights on your own in a few minutes.

Who the Acclaim suits

The Acclaim is the right choice if your motorhome has a 50mm ball hitch and you're towing a lighter car (under 2,268 kg). It's our most popular option for the typical Kiwi flat-towing setup: a compact 4WD or hatchback behind a mid-sized motorhome.

If you have a 2" receiver hitch on your motorhome, the Alpha or Avail are more convenient, since they fold up and stow on the rear of the motorhome when not towing.

2,268 kg is the Acclaim's limit. For heavier towed vehicles, step up:

  • The Alpha, rated to 2,950 kg
  • The heavy-duty Avail, rated to 4,536 kg

Common Questions

What vehicles can I tow with the Acclaim?

Most lighter passenger cars under 2,268 kg. The Acclaim works best with compact 4WDs (Suzuki Jimny, Jeep Wrangler) and small hatchbacks.

The towed vehicle needs a compatible Blue Ox baseplate fitted by an approved installer.

How does the Acclaim mount to my motorhome?

The Acclaim uses a 50mm ball hitch on the back of your motorhome. If your motorhome already has a tow ball, the Acclaim attaches directly.

If you have a 2" receiver instead, you'll need the Alpha or Avail.

Where does the Acclaim store between trips?

The arms fold back onto the towed vehicle while you're towing.

When you arrive and disconnect, the tow bar comes off and stores in the motorhome's boot, or in an optional carry bag.

Do I also need a brake system?

Often, and it depends on your motorhome tow bar's unbraked rating.

The Patriot 3 is our recommended brake system. Have a look at the NZ Legal Guide for the full picture.
