Built to be easy on your own

Non-binding latches
The latches self-release under tension, so you don't need to perfectly square up before disconnecting, even on uneven ground.

Self-aligning arms
Drive forward, the arms pull into position. No second person guiding you in.

One-person connect
Connect the tow bar, the safety cables, and the lights on your own in a few minutes.

Stays on the motorhome
Mounted in your receiver, the Alpha stays in place between trips. The arms fold back when not in use.
Who the Alpha suits
The Alpha is for motorhomes with a 2" receiver hitch, towing vehicles up to 2,950 kg. It's the middle option in the Blue Ox range: a step up from the Acclaim's ball-mount system, without the heavy-duty rating of the Avail.
If your motorhome has a 50mm ball hitch instead, the Acclaim is the right pick. If you're towing something heavier than 2,950 kg, you need the Avail.

Common Questions
What's the difference between the Alpha and the Avail?
Both use a Stays on the motorhome, but the Avail is rated to 4,536 kg compared to the Alpha's 2,950 kg. The Avail's arms are also longer for a wider turning radius.
Pick the Alpha if your towed vehicle is on the lighter side and you want a simpler setup.
Pick the Avail if you're towing heavier or want extra clearance on tight corners.
What receiver size do I need?
The Alpha needs a 2" receiver hitch on the back of your motorhome. Most mid to larger NZ motorhomes have this.
If you have a 50mm ball hitch instead, the Acclaim is your option.
What vehicles can I tow with the Alpha?
Most cars and small SUVs under 2,950 kg, fitted with a compatible Blue Ox baseplate.
The towed vehicle needs to be on a baseplate fitted by an approved installer.
Can I leave the Alpha mounted on my motorhome?
Yes. The Alpha stays mounted on the motorhome's receiver between trips. The arms fold back when you're not towing, taking up minimal space.
Do I also need a brake system?
Often, and it depends on your motorhome tow bar's unbraked rating.
The Patriot 3 is our recommended brake system. Have a look at the NZ Legal Guide for the full picture.
